In 1974, our small family business began working with USDA (and in 2003, DHS’s CBP Agriculture Specialists). We sampled, weighed, and cleaned imported fruits and vegetables under the supervision of the government’s most scrutinizing eyes. We expanded the business to warehousing, transportation, and brokering and were the only facility near the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach to clean fruits and vegetables.
In 2021, we sold the family business and had a lot of time to grab lunch at our local casual restaurants. We noticed when vegetables were delivered and started thinking about how we could help reduce waste and bring prices down.
In 2023, we started Viand. We wanted to focus on bringing fresh, high-quality produce to local casual restaurants – at a fair price. We used our expertise in logistics & inventory management to help reduce spoilage and costs by creating economical routes and tracking usage by restaurant order history.
Our goal is to not only provide the best produce, but also help our customers reduce costs by reducing waste, therefore increasing their bottom line. We are dedicated to providing the highest level of personalized customer service and are excited to work with new restaurants.
